Perched atop a high steep hill named MUNICIPAL ROCK GARDEN, FATEHSAGAR Moti Magri near the southern end of the embankment of the famous Fatehsagar Lake, is the artfully crafted Pratap Memorial. The entry in this 70-acre memorial is through a fort-like gate facing the vast sheet of the waterbody. The ascent to the 150 ft. high destination through a well asphalted serpentine road is really exhilarating. Much of the hill is covered by natural dense vegetation. On arrival at the top, one is greeted by the soothing breeze and mesmerizing view of the bewitching beauty of the enchanting environs of the white town, its towering palaces and lustrous lakes all girded and guarded by a ring of lofty verdant hills.

The monument is dominated by a south-facing impressively gigantic bronze statue of the valiant warrior Maharana Pratap on a 11 feet high pedestal. He is riding his faithful charger Chetak who sacrificed his life while carrying his master to safety from the battle field of Haldighati. In the gardens nearby are statues of heros like Hakim Khan Soori, Bhilurana Punja, Jhala Maan and others who fought with Pratap and sacrificed their life in the battle of Haldigati.

Built in the memory of Bhamashah the loyal treasurer of Pratap is the Bhamashah Park on the left side of the Pratap Memorial. This Japan type park has attractive shrubs, lawns, zigzag ponds, bridges etc.

Before developing Udaipur the founder of the city, Maharana Udaisingh built a fort and Moti Mahal here on this hill. Moti Mahal was built on the western slope of the hill. It is in a dilapilated condition and now only three rooms can be seen remained. It is said that Bhamashah, a minister of Maharana Pratap, called a meeting of Sardars and Umraos at the hill on the bank of Fatehsagar and during lunch offered them Motis, pearls, to show that the treasury was not empty. As Motis were served there, the palace came to be called Moti Mahal and the hill got the name of Moti Magari. The relics of another building Janana Mahal built on the northern slope of the hills have also been found. The light and sound show is a big attraction.

Due to its scenic beauty, historical importance and prime location, Moti Magri is thronged by huge number of visitors.

Carved out of a rugged rock, Muncipal Rock Garden is located at a prominent point along the drive on Fatehsagar Paal. It provides a soothing break from the rather monotonus expanse of the water of the lake in front. This small well maintained garden is a favourite picnic spot. It provides a panaromic view of the scenic beauty, especially when the setting sun bathes the water of the lake with its glowing crimson rays.
